MPC Older Adult Ministry

It's our time to serve those who have served us.

The MPC Older Adult Ministry seeks to address the special needs and expressed desires of older adults (those 55 years and older) both in our church and in the larger community we serve in the name and spirit of Jesus Christ. Linda Seaman serves as a full time Director of Older Adult Ministry. Her ministry is under the direction of the Senior Pastor and the Session and is supported by the Program Staff, Support Staff, Adult Ministry Council, and Congregational Ministry Council.

Linda Seaman helps those who are within the scope of her ministry to acquire in-home care assistance and referrals and the provision of medical equipment. She also counsels older adults regarding options for area housing placements and actively visits and contacts older members who are homebound or residing in care facilities. Calls for help for older adults are often forwarded to Linda, who in turn, with her many resources, is able to tap into various church support groups and/or community agencies.

MPC has a mini-bus that Linda puts to good use on Sunday mornings. The bus brings folks from Attleboro Retirement Village, Morrisville Presbyterian Apartments, and others in the local community to our church services and other MPC sponsored events.

Formal Older Adult Gala 2006

The MPC Older Adult Committee sponsors many social events for Older Adults. There is the Annual Spring Gala, which always has a special theme, a table served meal, and professional entertainment. Dozens of volunteers from all age groups in the church participate to make this event, which typically serves more than 100 honored guests, the highlight of the year. In May, an Older Adult Brunch takes place Our Heritage Luncheon is held in the fall to salute those who have been members for 50 or more years. Special events are planned each year to celebrate Older Adult Month. The mini-bus is pressed into service to transport members and friends to a wide variety of destinations such as: Fall Leaf Peeping, luncheon and shopping trips, area theater offerings, etc... We are indeed an active group.

Linda Seaman, Older Adult Ministry, currently serves as a church liaison to Morrisville Presbyterian Apartments and coordinates volunteers and shopping for that facility's commissary. She can be reached at the church office by phone at 1-(215)-295-4191 or just click here to send Linda an email.
