Annual Report 2007
"The Church as God's Work of Art"
Pastor's Letter
Dear Friends in Christ,
It’s amazing to think that another year has gone by so quickly, or that so much has gone on in the life of the church since our last congregational meeting. As this year’s Annual Report makes abundantly clear, MPC is a vibrant congregation where people in every decade of life are actively involved in programs of worship, service, fellowship and study on a daily basis.
As you browse through the following pages, and read the reports that are so beautifully illustrated, I hope you will be moved to gratitude, as I have been, for all that the members of this congregation have accomplished during 2007 for the glory of God. As you do, a beautiful, larger picture will, I hope, begin to emerge, not from any one report or picture or drawing, but from the whole. What that larger picture reveals to us is that God is continually at work here at MPC in each and all of us. In everything that we are and do as the Body of Christ, the church is truly "God’s Work of Art." And what a beautiful work it is! As the New Living Translation of Ephesians 2: 10 puts it: "For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago!"
I want to extend my special thanks to the many MPC artists who help us to celebrate this vision of the Church. By loaning us their works to be on display during the annual meeting, Fellowship Hall will briefly be transformed into an art gallery, reminding us of this year’s theme. Thanks, too, go to the 4th and 5th grade artists whose works have been chosen to help tell the story of God’s masterpiece as it is being lived into reality here at MPC. Seeing the church through the eyes of children gives us a unique perspective from which to appreciate the beauty of what God has been pleased to do among us and through us in the year just past, and encourages us to open our eyes to a new appreciation of how God will continue to work here at MPC in the years to come.
The Peace of Christ be with you all,
Rev. Dr. Ronald F. Rosenau
Pastor
