MPC Educational Ministry
Katy Yates Brungraber, DCE
“Educational Ministry is, in thankful response to God’s grace, the intentional and unintentional, formal and informal way believers in Jesus Christ share the Good News with their children, congregation, and community in their desire to better understand and follow God’s Word so as to serve and offer hope to those in need.”Katy Yates Brungraber, DCE
In October 2006, an Educational Ministry Advisory Team (EMAT) was formed at the approval of Session with the purpose “to assist with planning and overseeing the educational ministries of the church in coordination with the Session’s present council structure.” Because there is so much interconnection among Educational Ministry and existing councils, and since we only have identified Educational Ministry at a high level, detailed tasks of the group have not yet been determined. What will be the role of this new team or council? It will be important to assess priorities and create an action plan or five-year vision for implementing ministry ideas. Specific attention needs to be given to defining and balancing the following responsibilities:
- Serve as an educational resource to the whole church
- Implement educational programs and events
- Support the Director of Christian Education in current responsibilities
