Children's Choirs

Cherub Choir – Kindergarten to 2nd Grade
Children in the Cherub Choir leave worship around 11:00 am, after the Time for Young Disciples.  Professional musician Betty Hohwieler is energetic and animated, encouraging even the shyest of children to make a joyful noise. Some of our little ones start off just listening, but it isn’t long before they are totally engaged. With musical games and interactive lessons, rehearsal time passes quickly. Children are well-prepared to help lead worship about once a month. After the sermon, Cherubs return to the sanctuary.

Agape Choir - 3rd to 5th Grade
Agape Choir picks up where Cherub Choir leaves off – but even children who didn’t sing when they were younger acclimate quickly to the routine. 3rd to 5th graders leave worship during the last hymn for rehearsal that lasts through Fellowship time, ending at noon. Director Betty Hohwieler works on pitch, phrasing, tone, and music interpretation. Children learn what they are doing is not like a performance at school where they GET praise, but an offering where they GIVE praise to God.

Both choirs participate in the Christmas Eve worship service, process on Palm Sunday, and are worship leaders on Children’s Sunday in May. For more information about the Children’s Choirs, please feel free to email Betty Hohwieler or leave a message for her at the MPC office at 215.295.4191.

Children will be dismissed from Sunday School at approximately 10:10 on Sundays that they sing.
